On to Pamplona

Today we left Bilbao for Pamplona with a stop in San Sebastian on the way. San Sebastian is a seaside town and is considered Spain’s gourmet capital (many Michelin star restaurants). It is also the gateway to the mountains of Basque country. We took a walking tour of the town before having lunch at a local restaurant. We were served an assortment of delicious small plates. One of the best meals I’ve had on the trip so far.

Out on one of the main boulevards, there were about a dozen sculptures of skulls from Mexico. Reminds me of the Day of the Dead. I captured a few on camera.

Some photos from lunch.

After lunch, we continued onto Pamplona where we got a short tour of the old part of town. Here are a couple more pictures.

Marker for the Camino de Santiago. You can do the trail either by foot, bicycle or horse. This is an indication that this part of the trail is for bicycle. More about the Camino de Santiago in tomorrow’s post.
