More on Jordan

Found my pictures of the Roman ruins at Jerash and a picture of Amman. We had a woman guide, Rania, who shared much about her life and those of other women in Jordan. By what she said Islam is an important part of her life. She wears a head scarf only. Will wear loose pants when working but wears long skirts otherwise. She felt it important to teach her daughter’s the significance of dressing modestly. There was definitely a mix of women wearing only a head scarf and those wearing a scarf and a very loose fitting long dress, not quite a burka. She went back to get a college degree once her children were in school. She has a goal of owning her own tour guide business. Her views on Israel were interesting. She wanted peace and believes strongly that people need to get to know each other for that to happen. She now has many Jewish friends from the tour agency and was very interested to learn more about Judaism. However, she couldn’t understand why the Jews felt they had the right to come back and occupy the land. The people on the tour were from all over, South America, Central America, Asia, US, Canada, Europe and Israel. Actually the best part of the trip was meeting all these neat people.
