In Mazatlan

On Friday, Berni and I made our way to Mazatlan in Mexico. We got up at five in the morning to catch a 6 o’clock bus from Belize City to Chetamul, Mexico. It was significantly cheaper to fly out of Chetamul than Belize City. I don’t know what I was expecting for a bus station. There was no place to buy tickets, it was one room with a few food stands. You actually paid on the bus. The bus acted like a local bus within the city so we made many stops. Here are some of the pictures.

Needless to say, there was no air-conditioning on the bus.

From Chetamul we flew to Mazatlan with one stop over in Mexico City. Dan and Berni have a delightful apartment in the old town of Mazatlan . Last night we went out to dinner with an Israeli family that Dan had met. I had a delightful conversation with the wife and we exchange phone numbers. The family has been traveling for almost 2 years with two children that are now aged 12 and 9. I hope at one point to be able to meet up with them again in Israel. it is carnival time in Mazatlan. Tonight we’re going to watch the parade. Berni and I have a cooking class on Tuesday and then I fly home on Wednesday.
