Next adventure. Now in Amsterdam

I arrived in Germany on Friday. Got to spend one night in Tamar’s new apartment. It is very airy and bright with a view of the river. On Saturday, we drove to Amsterdam The countryside is so flat but very green. There were lots of wind turbines. After settling into our Airbnb, we took the train into central Amsterdam. Boy was it crowded. We had made no previous plans as what we would do so we walked around, found a place for lunch and decided to take a canal boat ride. The ride was very enjoyable. Afterwards we walked some more looking for a place for dinner and stumbled onto an Indonesian restaurant. After that we were so tired we went back to our room. Here are pictures of our afternoon in Amsterdam mostly taken from the boat ride.

The next day instead of fighting the crowds and since we had a car, we decided to explore around the outskirts of the city. We went to an 18th century Dutch village with windmills. It was very pretty but definitely touristy. The windmill we went into was for making dye. Never knew you could make dye this way. They smashed and ground rocks. After this we drove to a wonderful beach. We had a nice long walk then found a place right on the beach were we could sit outside and eat. I had a platter with smoked salmon, shrimp, tuna and herring. My idea of great food. On the way back into town, Tamar dropped me at the Van Gogh Museum and she then drove back to Germany. It was so good to spend time with her albeit short. We always have such good times together. Right now, it is Monday morning and I am getting packed to go to the airport. On to Krakow and the next adventure. The following pictures are of the Dutch village and the beach.
