Granada

Our hotel is in an old part of town close to the main cathedral where queen Isabella and king Ferdinand are buried. We got in early enough in the afternoon for Reggie and I to go over and visit the chapel containing these tombs. Here are some pictures taken as we walked around the old part of town on our first evening in Granada.

Having gelato was almost a daily event.

The following day, the main event was visiting in the Alhambra. We started at the Gardens and summer residence. Here are some pictures.

On the way to the main part of the Alhambra we got to watch some artisans at work.

Another shot of Granada from the ramparts of the Alhambra.

Here are a number of pictures of the Alhambra. The Alhambra was originally built by the moors. Was added to after the conquest in 1492 by Ferdinand and Isabella. The pictures are mostly of the original structure. I much prefer Moorish architecture over Christian architecture.

We then walked down from the Alhambra to the Arab quarter for lunch. Here are some views along the river below the Alhambra.

For dinner, Reggie and I went up to Saint Nicholas Square in the old Arab Quarter in order to view the Alhambra at night.
