Brasov to Bucharest and the start of our Viking Tour.

After a delightful breakfast in Brașov, we took the train back to Bucharest. The scenery was breathtaking. I was able to get some good pictures even through the window of the train. Unfortunately, some are a little fuzzy because they were taken through a window. We really enjoyed our stay in Brașov. It’s an incredible town and so much to see.

One more picture from Brasov. I think this might be a monastery.

Pictures from the train.

Back in Bucharest we went to this very cute restaurant for dinner. I had a smoked pork shank with polenta and cabbage. I wish I had taken a picture of it. The next day we were in Bucharest on our own. We took two walks. The second one was into the Bucharest old historic district to find gelato. I have to say we were quite successful in our search. Here are some pictures from our walks.

When complete this will be the largest Orthodox Church in Europe
Old town

After settling in at the hotel that Viking had booked for us, we had dinner at the restaurant Cucina. Reggie had this phenomenal duck and I have these incredible lamb chops. For dessert we had cannoli with ice cream. I did get pictures of this food.

After breakfast, and before, going to our ship, Viking took us on a tour around Bucharest. Our first stop was an open air museum where they had moved houses from rural areas to the museum. The houses dated back to the 16th century. Here are a few pictures from the museum

The Romanian parliament building, the biggest in Europe. It was built by Ceausescu who was dictator of Romania from 1965 to 1989.

Our cabin onboard. It’s a good thing we’re not planning on spending a lot of time in it.
