Traveling to Huay-Pix

Looks like the Internet is working better. We think there might’ve been too many users on it last night that slowed it down. So I’m going to attempt to post

Before leaving Akumal, I took some pictures of the flowers in our driveway.

We drove from Akumal to Huay-Pix. It took us about four hours, and we stopped for groceries on the way. Driving in the Yucatán peninsula is very boring. I thought the Yucatán would be more mountainous. It is very flat. The roads are straight and the scenery is dull. We are just driving through scrub brush and trees. We did drive through a few towns. It was raining the whole day. First time it has rained since I’ve been here. So we picked the perfect day to be in transit. Here are some pictures that I took through the window of the car.

Without too much effort, we found the place we’re staying at for the next two nights. Berni booked this place. I guess the word rustic would be a compliment. Actually, it is right down my alley. We have our own little unit which is a glorified yurt. It is called a casita or little house. There is a loft with a bed upstairs where Berni is sleeping. Downstairs is a little table area and a bed and the bathroom. Next-door is another small building with a shared kitchen facility and a lounge area on the second floor. They have paddle boards for our use so I’m going to try one tomorrow. Here are the pictures on our arrival. It is still cloudy and rainy so I expect that I will have prettier pictures on my next post.
