Our first day in Porto

In the morning, we took a public bus to where the Douro River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Even though it was a public bus, it was a double-decker, so we had really nice views on the way to the ocean. I was able to grab the front row seat on the top deck. Once there, we had a nice walk along the water and stopped for coffee. Here are some pictures on our walk to the bus stop which took us through the train station. Inside the station, there was some beautiful tile mosaics.

Have I explained that streets in Porto either go uphill or downhill. They are rarely flat.

Here are some pictures taken from inside the bus.

The Cathedral
There are construction cranes everywhere in Porto.
Tourist cable car

Pictures from our walk.

The bar. Nothing like the Columbia River bar in Oregon.
They have palm trees in Porto.
The lighthouse
The walk down to the cafe
The 16th century Fort guarding the entrance to the Douro River.

For me, it was a delightful way to spend the morning because I was by the water.
