We left Caye Caulker by plane. We had a stop over for few hours in Belize City before our flight to Dangriga. On that flight Berni and I were the only passengers. We then got a taxi to the waterfront. From there it was a 40 minute boat ride to Tobacco Caye. In total, travel was slightly over four hours. The best I can say about the boat ride was that it was exhilarating. Where I go boating up in Canada, this would’ve been called small craft warnings. And a boat that size would not be allowed out. . Got to the island pretty sopping wet. I shook the hand of the captain because I was really impressed by his steering skills through all that surf.

Pictures from around the Dangriga waterfront.

The next set of pictures was on our way to Tobacco Caye. They don’t even begin to show how rough it was.

Once on Tobacco Caye, the manager gave us a tour of the island. The north end of the island where our resort is located unfortunately is quite windy. The south end of the island is very calm and warm and is where the snorkeling is. Tomorrow we’re actually going to go out with a guide and a boat to a couple of snorkeling spots where we might be able to see manatees. The resort certainly meant my expectations. It would be nice if it wasn’t quite as windy. We had a lunch here and it was delicious so I think the food is going to be fine. There are no restaurants on the island so we have to eat what the resort provides us. Here are pictures of the resort and the island.

What an adventure! Beautiful photos! How did you choose THAT location to visit?
I hope I am able to send this comment! The last one did not go because the website would npt accept my password! Foo on THAT!

I did a lot of research before coming here. Somehow, this resort if you can call that popped up. It just looked enchanting.

Beautiful and rustic. Looks very relaxing.!! Also not very crowded! You seem to be the only tourists. How can this beautiful place be so deserted? We’re you just lucky that day?

I just don’t take pictures with people in it. There are people here. The tourism is down. We are actually getting to meet people since we eat in a communal dining area. Yesterday we met a family from Montana.
