Next stop Victoria. Lake

Today we drove through the western section of the Serengeti as we left the park on our way to Lake Victoria. Here are the pics.

Here come the giraffes.

Multitudes of wildebeest. We stumbled on what is sometimes called the great migration. The wildebeest migration is not really a migration per se but a circular movement primarily looking for pasture in rhythm with rainfall. The wildebeest are the migration itself. There is neither the start or finish to their endless search for food and water, as they circle the Serengeti ecosystem in a relentless sequence of life and death. There were quite a few zebra among the wildebeest. Here are some more pictures of the herd.

After leaving the park, we quickly found some paved roads on our way to Lake Victoria. We passed a number of villages along the way. I took a number of photos from the Land Cruiser.

There appeared to be electricity to a fair number of the villages. Unclear whether there is running water available in each house. Tomorrow we visit a village so I will have more information. In the meantime, we got to our beautiful Lodge on Lake Victoria.

Fisherman out on the lake. They mainly fish at night. You could see hundreds of boats out there in the evening. Fish are attracted to the light and they use nets to gather them.
A masked weaver was my companion, as I was writing my blog on my deck.
