Driving in Croatia

It is very easy to drive in Croatia. There are good roads and plenty of signs. I enjoyed looking at all the villages I went through. They were very clean with nice houses. I did not see any abject poverty. The road up to and out of Plitvice National Park was hilly, very lush. The only signs of agriculture were some corn fields, hay and cattle and sheep. Once out of the mountains on the way to Zadar, the terrain started to look a lot drier, very much like Southern California. There were a number of stands along the road selling honey.  Once I got into Zadar, there were actual little palm trees. I have given up the car and decided to take the bus to Split. I didn’t want to deal with parking in Zadar since I can’t park in the old town where I am staying. I am pleased at how well I am doing by myself. I really haven’t felt lonely and am getting used to eating out by myself. Though I am looking forward to joining the tour tomorrow. Next post about Zadar.

  1. Sounds like you are having a great time even on your own. Well done with the 7 mile hike. Autumn is settled in here, trees turning and rain falling, I’m enjoying it. Looking forward to hearing about the next stage of your journey.

  2. I am leaving for Spain tomorrow. I hope I am as intrepid as you. Even though I am taking day tours with groups, I will have a lot of time to myself in each city.I don’t have any communication set up like this,, and it never occurred to me to ask anyone how to set it up. Maybe tonight mt son in law can help. Otherwise, it’s pictures when I get back. See Ya in November!
