National Park Mljet (2 years late)

I found this post from Croatia in my drafts. It was never posted. So those of you that are following my Norway trip here’s a little extra bonus for you.

On the way to Mljet we saw lots of sailboats with their spinnakers out. It is such a beautiful sight. I must admit that a big part of me would rather be on a sailboat. The national park was made from two fresh water lakes. Because they were causing a big mosquito problem, they made a channel between the lakes and one out to the Adriatic. So now they are salt water lakes. There is an island in the middle of one with a monastery and some Roman ruins. The monastery has a Romanesque chapel. After the hike I dipped my feet in the sea. Wish I had brought my swimsuit because I would have gone swimming. The boat moved on to a smaller island closer to Dubrovnik where we spent the night. Just a trivia piece of info. Croatians are some of the tallest people in the world.

  1. Robbie, I’m thinking about you – thanks for two more pictures. Also, you are sharing your experiences with me, but not seeing any of my responses until you get back and maybe by then you won’t care. Anyway, thanks again. Peggy
