Third and final day in Oslo

Elaine and I were again on our own today and we set off for the Munch museum. Edvard Munch is Norway’s greatest artist. He is best known for the painting “The Scream”. I have not seen many of this artist works before and I felt that he had an amazing way of expressing human emotion. I was much taken with his paintings. I also liked the works of Amaldus Nielsen mainly because his works reminded me of our cruise. Here are the works by Munch.

Our final adventure for the afternoon was head out to the Oslo opera house. Most European cities have opera house is built centuries ago. Oslo has a modern opera house with an interesting roof that you can actually walk up on and view the harbor area and downtown Oslo. The house cost around €500 million to build and was opened in 2008. It is designed to resemble a glacier floating in the waters of the Oslofjord. Here are pictures taken of me walking up and pictures I took from the roof. There is also a picture of the interior of the opera house.

  1. So glad you went to the Opera House. It was a little warmer and sunnier when we were there. Loved the walk up on the roof and the view from there. Sorry a couple of the museums are closed ☹️.

  3. Robbie, I don’t quite know what to say. I did write down the final comment about The Scream. I don’t remember where I have see this picture before, but I doubt if anyone who sees it ever forgets. Peggy
