Back home

I’m sorry to have been negligent in writing a post saying that I am back home. Unfortunately the morning after I got back, I tested positive for Covid. It is a relatively mild case, but very slow in getting over my symptoms. I’d like to talk about some general things about this trip. First of all Viking is an excellent cruise line. The food on the ship was excellent and the crew were very friendly and very helpful. They even broke the handle of my suitcase and replaced it with a new one without any hassle. My only concern is that the excursions were not as educational as I am used to with Road Scholar. My favorite part of the trip was the time that Reggie and I spent in Brașov. We had a wonderful Airbnb right in the old town. The two full day tours that we took were packed full of sites and information. I would highly recommend visiting Brașov. I was really fascinated with the history of the whole area. These countries were under the rule of so many different empires yet they seem to have been able to establish a culture and an identity. I was really impressed with the scenery. The area has beautiful mountains and forests. I also feel they are doing an incredible job recovering from being under the rule of the communists. Stay tuned for my next trip which will be to Costa Rica with one of my granddaughters.

  1. Robbie, so sorry about the Covid; jetlag is enough without that! I hope you’re soon feeling good. I enjoyed your commentary and your wonderful pictures. Thanks so much for sharing the experience. Norma.

  2. Welcome home! (Belatedly)! Heard from Janet about your having contracted COVID. Glad the symptoms weren’t too severe.

Two couples from our community went on a Viking trip to France and one of them came back with COVID and two of the others with RSV, so I guess we still have to be careful.

Hope you have a great time in Costa Rica with Zoe. Are you doing a tour? We were there many moons ago on a business trip, and I remember how nice the people were there. Hope it’s a memorable time for both of you.

Ray’s doing much better now that we’re well-established with the home dialysis. It’s especially nice being able to set our own schedule.

All the best to you and safe travels,

    Pat

  3. Oh my… We had dinner with Adam, Janet and the girls last Wednesday when Ab (my sister) and her husband were here visiting. Adam mentioned the Covid then and we all felt sad to hear about it. Your photos and dialog were just wonderful. Thanks much for sharing.

Hope your trip to Costa Rica goes well. We love that country!
