On the Way to the Pacific Ocean

At breakfast this morning, Volcano Arenal finally peaked out from behind the clouds. Here are two pics.

We got off to an early start this morning, 7:30 am, because we had a 5 1/2 hour drive to the Pacific Ocean. We stopped at a co-op to buy souvenirs. Then we stopped for lunch. Lunch was then going to be followed by a boat ride to see crocodiles. Unfortunately, it started raining so hard with thunder and lightning that we had to cancel the boat ride. We’re going to try to fit it in tomorrow morning. The rain was so bad that inside the restaurant, one of the gutters fell down. I have no pictures of any adventures for today. The pictures I have, are taken from the bus of the scenery that we were passing through. They do have rain drops in some of them. There are also some pictures of typical Costa Rican homes and pictures of the rain storm from inside the restaurant including the broken gutter. I also have a picture of the first cat that I’ve seen in Costa Rica. She is really huge and I think she’s pregnant.

The broken gutter
This is not a creek. It is the result of the rain.

Our home for the next day is Punta Leona which means Lion Point. After arriving at our room, I walked down to the beach and back. I was able to take some pictures. There are two beaches at the resort. One has stingrays, and the other is really good for swimming. I walked down to the one with the stingrays. The resort has rooms and timeshares. There is also a market, at least four pools and a number of restaurants. There is a recreation room with ping-pong tables. It is quite a resort.

The next set of pictures were taken at the beach

Here are the pictures of the big pools.
