Still in Split

Today we went by bus up the coast to Sibenik, a very cute town surrounded by fortresses that protected the town from the Turkish invasion in the 17th century. The cathedral in town, built in the 15th century, is unique in that it is constructed entirely in stone. I am not much of a cathedral fan but I was impressed with the stonework. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the 1890’s, Sibenik was also the third place in the world to get electric street lights, two days after Niagara Falls. System was designed by Tesla. On the way back to Split we had lunch in a small town in the foothills above the Adriatic.

Marble leaves each having a unique pitch. They can be played as a percussion instrument
