On the way to the Serengeti

Today we drove from the rim of the crater to our lodge in Serengeti National Park. On the way we made a stop at the Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is a famous archaeological ravine in northern Tanzania known as the “cradle of humankind” for its rich fossil records of early human evolution. Louis and Mary Leakey explored this area. The name of the Gorge comes from the Maasai word meaning the place of the wild sisal. There is a museum at the site. We spotted some giraffe on the way to the museum.
