Since we actually came to Belize a day earlier than originally planned, we had to find a place to stay for one night. So today we moved to the Airbnb that we will be staying in for the next three nights. Here are some pictures taken at the first place we stayed at.

Caye Caulker is actually two separate islands, the south one and the north one. We are staying on the south island. Our Airbnb is located right at the north tip of the south Island. We got our trustee golf cart cab ride to our new location. Drove through the downtown area. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a place quite like this. Berni says it reminds her of Jamaica. it definitely has an incredible laid-back Caribbean vibe. The buildings are pretty rustic and colorful. Our two locations we are staying at can also be described at best as rustic. Water pressure is low and Internet is slow. Here are some pictures of our new location. We have some delightful pelicans for neighbors.

Berni and I took a walk around this morning. We checked in at the dive shop that we’re going to take the tour with tomorrow and bought some food. I expected this place to be more resort like. The area called the Split located on the north tip, I thought would have a number of restaurants and other kinds of things. It didn’t. It’s very small and only consists of one bar. Here are the pictures from our walk.

We went back to our room for a rest and something to eat. We then headed out for more adventure. We visited an area where you can feed tarpons and we also visited an area where there were many rays. Tarpons can grow up to 8 feet long and can live up to 100 years.

We next got to see a beautiful sunset right off the beach where we are staying. After watching the sunset, we went to a local pub to listen to some music and have some beers. It was kind of a disappointment. There were no locals, the food was mediocre and so was the music. But it was nice just hanging out talking to Berni and it was a good ending for a wonderful day.

Thanks for your great posts, Robbie. I hope all goes well. I’ve been to Caye Caulker and had fun. The people and snorkelling were great- as I recall there was also a marine reserve to go in with lots more sea life.

Love Belize! A little sad it has changed so much. First time there was in the 80’s. Now to crowded and too expensive. I’ve been there 6 times. Go into the mountains it was amazing there❤️
